GenAI strategy and organisation for a leading media player

Supported a European media group to develop a group-wide AI strategy and scalable AI operating model

The Eden McCallum team worked with senior leadership to identify and prioritise strategic GenAI opportunities across the organisation, targeting measurable strategic impact within two years through innovation and productivity improvement.

Context

Our client, a major European media group, sought to unlock value and improve performance through greater use of GenAI in the near term.

The aspiration was to unlock more widespread adoption and rollout than existing internal GenAI initiatives had achieved, to centralise the approach rather than experimenting ad hoc, and to increase engagement with more complex AI applications that held the potential to drive change across the organisation.

We were engaged to support the client’s leadership on a journey to assess and prioritise the GenAI opportunity, define an enhanced approach, and shape the organisation required to roll it out.

Approach

Bringing together internal and external insights in a rapid and structured process, we worked closely with the senior leadership team to explore, identify and prioritise initiatives, to develop the priority plans, and to agree the organisational structure to direct their rollout and ongoing development.

The emerging priority initiatives focused on productivity improvement through task automation for a series of use cases, and a phased programme of specific targeted opportunities in product innovation such as search functionality, personalisation and ad targeting.

Impact

The work culminated in the design of a scalable AI operating model, centralised AI governance, defined and prioritised MVPs for key applications, and a concrete two-year roadmap for implementation including phasing for technically interdependent launches, all to be developed and led by the new central in-house team.
