Integrating wealth management companies in the UK

Supported this merger of wealth managers from due diligence through pre- and post-merger planning and the development of a new shared brand.

Following our initial operational and IT due diligence, we set up this integration’s PMI programme, ensuring internal ownership, and provided support to strategic communications, brand development and relaunch.

Context

Our client, a specialist wealth and asset manager, had entered exclusive talks to acquire a fellow wealth manager as part of an overall rollup strategy by its PE owners.

Eden McCallum was engaged in an evolving series of assigments over the course of this successful deal and integration, from operational due diligence and internal communications around the deal’s strategic narrative, through PMI planning and marketing support for the rebrand.

Approach

Over a 6-week period we assessed the operational and IT synergies to feed into the post-merger plan, including workshops with Operations and IT leadership on both sides.

We then worked with client leadership to develop the big picture strategic narrative and high-level PMI plan for internal communication. Once the deal was announced, we set up the integration programme to realise the synergies, shaping the multi-year plan across all workstreams, and building accountability for the new senior team in driving the implementation.

When that planning resulted in a decision to rebrand, we went on to provide marketing support for the brand development and migration planning.

Impact

At this stage, the ongoing integration is proceeding on target, owned and delivered internally by the management team. We continue to provide light-touch, senior advisory support to the implementation and the rebrand.

The new entity is on track to realise its targeted synergies over the next 18 months, building the platform to achieve a leading position in its market.
