A flying start

Anna Marisina, Analyst, UK

I have always struggled with first day nerves. First day of school. First day of university. But not my first day at Eden McCallum. Three weeks later, having just completed the induction programme and preparing to embark on my first project at the firm, I can explain that initial feeling of certainty that I had found the right place to begin my career.

Throughout the difficult months of the pandemic and the first nationwide lockdown, the Eden McCallum team dedicated a lot of effort to making myself and the other new joiners feel reassured and connected to our future colleagues and, most importantly, to ensuring that our induction would not have to be entirely virtual. I am sure that we would still have been able to effectively cover the core elements of the consulting skillset from our rooms at home. However, we would have missed out on the feeling of integration into the friendly and caring culture of the firm which has made the fast-paced learning experience of the past few weeks so enjoyable.

Working closely with the other new analysts on a case study and presentation has allowed us to bond in a very short period of time, and to learn from each other at every step of the way. Coupled with the attention paid to our individual development throughout the training in terms of both analytical and communicative tools, the opportunity to consolidate all theoretical learnings through the case work has allowed me to emerge from the induction feeling ready to take on the exciting challenges of consulting. I cannot wait to develop my skills further within the network of brilliant, highly experienced mentors and new friends which makes up the stimulating and supportive environment that is Eden McCallum.
